The women of Roçado are an observation. They are not idealized characters nor are they the target of so-called anthropophagy. Nor are they mere nostalgia, memories of a reinterpreted childhood. It also does not intend to be a poetic and generalized tribute to all rural women, as if they all had the same name and lived the same reality.
Roçado is much more than that: it is a study about rural women who have a name, who have a routine, who have dreams, who have a family. The woman who harvests the summer harvest and sets it out to dry. The woman who cries and laughs watching television at her neighbor's house. The woman who is often right, but sometimes not. The woman who carries the can on her head. The woman with the body that bends, but who has strength in her arms.
And so are the works that make up the Roçado exhibition. Rural women portrayed in everyday situations in an honest way, but without the filters of idealization. Reality takes care of beauty. Simplicity takes care of emotion. And the artist's delicacy in expressing the private universe of these women through her work brings the observer closer to a truth that he little knew.
